Mix & Match Your Dining Room Furniture

By Forschler's Home Center

Are you looking to spice up your dining room? You can add character to this space by mixing an array of furniture with a Vintage Casual style. All your pieces will have some type of character to them and they don’t need to be from the same collection! Besides, being too matchy-matchy has nearly become a home décor faux pas!

The dining table
First and foremost, begin with the dining table. The Mestler dining table is a simply shaped table with a beautiful rich bisque finish. Fortunately, the simplicity of the shape allows for the rich finish to take the spotlight. In fact, the beauty of picking a table as such is that you can allow yourself to ramp up the character with the seating.

Seating options
That being said, the second task is that of selecting the dining seating. The Mestler collection offers a variety of seating choices to meet your dining room décor needs. As a first option, the side chair featuring a beautiful distressed antique blue finish, would definitely add some much needed character to the table. However, if you feel that this option is antique blue overkill, you can play with the seating style and add a touch of blue instead. In order to pull this look off, opt for a mix of distressed antique blue chairs, distressed antique white chairs and a tufted light brown upholstered chair. All three dining chairs offer a Vintage Casual style that blends perfectly with the dining table.

The piece that ties it all together
Lastly, the final touch resonates with the buffet. The Demarlos dining room server features a vintage-inspired style. This piece is bathed in a rich finish with gentle distressed accents and antique hardware. It screams character! Despite exuding character, its relaxed sensibility avoids an overstated look. Aside from being stylish, this server offers plenty of storage space – a must for ladies that love their china!

If you’re an individual who enjoys displaying a little character in your home, then this project is for you! Enjoy mixing and matching your pieces to achieve your desired look!

Add Decorative Accents to Your Living Room

By Forschler's

There is a list of a few questions you must ask yourself when looking to add decorative accents to your living room. Don’t worry, no need to ask a designer to do it. Here are 5 simple questions you might ask yourself before adding decorations to your living room:
  1. Which color scheme are you using in your living room?
  2. What kind of ambiance do you want to make?
  3. Is there a common theme in your living room (florals, vintage, monochrome)? Do you want to keep this theme or change it?
  4. Where do you want to add decorations?
  5. Why do you want to add decorations?

Based on these questions, you should be able to make a good choice.

Now, little tips and advice to help you make a better choice:
  • First of all, if you have kids, it is not recommended to choose fragile decorations like a glass vase or pottery for places they can reach. Adding some decorative candles and/or printed pillows can be a good alternative.
  • Make sure that you find the same color at least in 3 items and not more than 5 colors (different tones don’t count as a different color if they are similar). Too many different colors in the same room make it hard to match them.
  • Don’t be afraid to use textures and patterns, but not more than 3 (you don’t want your living room decor to be inconsistent). Choosing a theme helps to choose the textures and patterns.
  • Keep in mind the size of the room while you’re shopping; too much decoration rarely gives good results and make the small rooms seem smaller.
  • Adding decorative pillows can make all the difference, you might try this before adding anything else.

ALL YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT AREA RUGS

By Forschler's

It’s amazing how much an area rug can transform a room. If you’re looking to roll out big style—for a modest outlay of cash—opting for an area rug is a good way to go. When shopping for the right area rug, choose one that’s roughly the same shape as the accompanying furniture. Cluster the furniture around it or on top of it, place a table, desk or bed at its center—and you’re good to go!
Why are area rugs so great? Because area rugs…

Tie together a room’s color scheme. An area rug works as well, if not better, than art or throw pillows to unify your color schemes.

Anchor furniture. Area rugs make a room look connected and cohesive. In living rooms and family rooms, use an area rug that’s big enough to fit under the front legs of your furniture. If it’s too small to do that, center the rug under your coffee table.

Are inexpensive “artwork.” Bringing color and graphical elements into a room, area rugs help create a dynamic gathering place. Certain area rugs, such as handwoven style rugs, can also be hung on a large wall, at a fraction of the price of large-scale artwork.

Add warm, comfort and safety
. Especially if you have solid-surface floors, such as hardwood, concrete or tile, you can appreciate the cushy relief area rugs bring to your space.

Work everywhere. Be it in the living room, bedroom or dining room, area rugs feel right at home. As a rule of thumb; use an area rug under the largest piece, or group of furniture, in a room to anchor the space.

Absorb sound. Especially when accompanied by an ample rug pad, area rugs do a wonderful job of buffering noise.

Move with you. Wall-to-wall carpeting might be there to stay, but area rugs are all yours to take with you should you relocate.

While machine-made rugs are the most common today, there are plenty of handwoven options that can include everything from precious oriental rugs to affordable jute styles.

A bit about area rug materials:

Synthetic rugs are mostly made from petroleum products. They’re popular for their colorful designs, durability and low price.

Wool rugs offer a step up with their remarkably soft, plush feel. Most are hand-tufted, with loops of yarn punched into a cloth, backed with latex and then sheared to produce a cut-pile surface. It’s completely normal for wool area rugs to shed a little when they’re brand new.

Jute rugs are another natural fiber area rug. These are usually handwoven. Though associated with more relaxed/casual settings, they’re a designer favorite in many interiors today because they add texture, lie flat and are easy to maintain.

Tips for keeping your area rug as good as new:

  • Purchase a rug pad to reduce movement on the floor and prevent rug wear.
  • Vacuum regularly to reduce dirt accumulation.
  • Blot spills immediately. Avoid saturation with water.
  • Rotate occasionally to reduce the effects of traffic and sunlight.

Balance Your Home Decor With Vases!

Sometimes we look at a room in the house and we think: “something is missing here! There are too many blank spaces.” A good way to resolve this feeling is to add some accent décorvases can do a great job! Here are some tips on how to match vases to your homedécor:

For a big space, like in a corner of the living room, using a single big vase is trendy. Add some faux flowers and/or long branches to personalize it!

If you have many medium or small vases and they have a similar look, they will make a bigger impact and seem more important if you keep them in the same area.

For a vintage look, add off-white or beige vases.

To add some punch to a room, colorful ones will do the trick!

Used singly or in combination, poufs are stylish; a fun way to add pattern and texture to a room. Since they’re soft and portable, you don’t have to worry about moving them around and scratching the floor.

4 tips to integrate poufs to your indoor space:

That kind of tranquility seems to be achievable on holidays only, but in fact, you can bring it at home all year long!
The bathroom creates an atmosphere that makes you focus on nothing but yourself and soothing massage sensations. Don’t miss out!

Summer is coming soon! It’s time to redecorate your bathroom and reach a perfect and relaxing costal area!

Seafront style or beach style are synonyms of peace and relaxation. Those generally associate blue and white colors to bring a marine and fresh universe.

Useful information to better understand beach style:
Personality: Peaceful, humble, soft, fresh, elegant, exotic.

Be Creative For Memorial Day

by Forschler's Home Center

Memorial Day weekend is the perfect occasion to gather everyone you love to honor people who died while in the military service. Maybe some of them were in your family circle; take advantage of this special day to remember what they did for your country. Make this day a perfect moment to spend time with your close friends and family. What better way to have a good time with people we love than talking and eating a good meal around a beautifully decorated table, within the theme of the Memorial Day?

5 tips to succeed in preparing a Memorial Day table:

1)   Cook beforehand
Make the most of the time with your guests, get ahead! As soon as possible during the day, cut peppers into strips, homemade sauces ... simmer sauces in bowls and place them in the refrigerator. Also you can make chicken and meat skewers. You will just have to take them out in good time.

2)   Multiply tastes
Forget skewers from the supermarket, as they are bland and uninviting.
Lean rather towards ribs, chicken wings or meat slices, etc.
Just as well, add some sausages and match your chicken or meat with a slice of bacon, harmonized with mashed potatoes or runner beans for side dishes. In addition, make marinades with some spices and herbs such as mint, coriander, basil, oregano, thyme.

3)   Incorporate some marinades and sauces
To provide relief texture and give a good taste to your grilled, mix different marinades.
For example, you can mix soy sauce, honey and coriander.
N.B. honey is cooked with meat sauces, but it is just as good as fish sauces.
Do not forget the cold sauces for meat lovers. Also, add a lighter yogurt sauce and mint to join vegetables. Finally, on the table’s corner, put mayonnaise and ketchup, as always acclaimed.

4)   Don’t forget exoticism
Squeeze limes to make a marinade, use coconut milk to sweeten a sauce and season your dishes with a pinch of pepper.
Do not hesitate to prick your skewers on a pineapple cut in half.

5)   Create your personalized dessert
To end your meal, the dessert has to be light and creative. We recommend some fruit jars with cream or exotic fruit salad and ice coconut balls.
Nevertheless, you have the opportunity to be creative!
Think up braised fruits. Hand out sheets of aluminum to your guests and ask them to make their own selection. Besides it's fun!
Vary pleasures by mixing mango wedges, melons, apples or apricots. Prepare even skewers of fresh fruit. Finally, end your evening with skewers of marshmallow to melt on the barbecue and dip them in melted chocolate for food lovers.

Don’t forget the right cocktail!
